Tool Permits Easy Comparison of Two Photographs

James Brosher posted, "IU's Old Crescent: 1949 vs. 2018," on the Indiana University IU Photography blog.  Brosher describes his use of a drone to replicate, as closely as possible, an earlier campus photograph.  He then used the JuxtaposeJS tool available from the Knight Lab web site.  Viewers can then use a slider on the JuxtaposeJS image for easy comparison of the more recent photograph with the one taken almost 70 years earlier.

Marylhurst University Announces Closure in 2018

The Board of Trustees for Marylhurst University announced this past week on May 17, 2018 that the institution will close.  The Marylhurst website includes links to additional information regarding the decision and a variety of resources for students, staff, or faculty .   Marylhurst University was founded in 1859 by the  Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary   as St. Mary's Academy in Portland, Oregon.  The institution became St. Mary's Academy and College in 1893.  The name changed to Marylhurst College in 1930 after move to Marylhurst, OR.  The name changed to Marylhurst Education Center in 1974, to Marylhurst College for Lifelong Learning in 1980, to Marylhurst College in 1992, and finally to Marylhurst University in 1998. Lincoln College of New England Announces Closure

  Lincoln College of New England, a small for-profit institution,  announced that it will no longer enroll students and intends to close at the end of 2018. The institution was founded in 1966 as Briarwood Secretarial School in Bristol, Connecticut.  Courses were offered the following year at a site in Southington, Ct.  The school then received its state charter in 1979 as Briarwood College.  Baccalaureate programs were add in 2005 for criminal justice and funeral service management.   Briarwood College was acquired by Lincoln Educational Services Corporation in 2008.  The following year LESC acquired Clemens College in Suffield, CT and merged the two institutions to form Lincoln College of New England.
